Reethi Raajje In addu

The Reethi Raajje campaign, a nationwide initiative to promote environmental sustainability and cultural preservation, successfully held its recent events in Addu City and Fuvahmulah. The campaign continues to inspire communities across the Maldives, fostering awareness and action toward a sustainable future.

The main event in association with Parley, took place on 24th November 2024 at Addu Nature Park. Participants included students from the Addu city area, local community members, youth volunteers, and representatives from prominent local NGOs such as Project Thimaaveshi and Veshisaafu. Following this event, on the 25th a clean up was carried out in the Funa Vavu area also in association with the volunteers and community members.

Key highlights from Addu included:
  • Filming the Nature Park, showcasing its historical richness and the vibrant birdlife at Eedhigali Kilhi, Divva Fenagana, The Koattey area, to mention a few.
  • Discussions with Project Thimaaveshi, a youth-led NGO focusing on environmental preservation and mindset transformation through initiatives like Project Thimaa and Project Veshi.
  • Insights from Veshisaafu, whose work includes replanting breadfruit trees to protect native white terns and consistently organizing community cleanups.
